In the first half of 2026, China's CNC machine tool industry is driven by both policy standardization and technological innovation, bringing new development features to the sector.
The new customs export declaration rules for lathes, milling machines and grinders recently issued by the General Administration of Customs will officially take effect on June 30. Relevant exporters are required to truthfully declare controlled items and submit complete technical documents. While regulating export order across the industry, this policy also pushes domestic machine tool exporters to build standardized compliance management systems. Many leading manufacturers have already upgraded their internal declaration procedures in advance.
Technologically, artificial intelligence and digital twin technologies are being rapidly applied to machine tool products. The new generation of intelligent machine tools equipped with predictive maintenance systems can monitor tool wear and equipment operating conditions in real time, cutting unplanned downtime by more than 30% and greatly improving production efficiency in industrial applications.
In terms of industrial policies, high-end CNC machine tools remain on the national Catalogue of Encouraged Industries. Supported by favorable policies including the "AI Plus" Initiative and the special program for equipment upgrading, import substitution of domestic machine tools is accelerating steadily.
Industry analysts predict that the next three years will be a critical window for local enterprises to break through high-end technical barriers. Companies with standardized export compliance and intelligent technology advantages will gain stronger overall competitiveness in the global market.
